Great photo on a beautiful sunny day in Boston.
David, I recognize you and Jack Wu, it's Kim Kaiser who puzzled me.

Hello to my Niles 64 classmates! Below is a photo of me, my husband Michael and our grandson Jonah (23) on Jonah's balcony. We also live in Chicago and have been city people for the past 55 years. I am busy with volunteer activities and keeping up with friends. I like to take long walks, especially around Chicago.

Exciting as the view from the balcony is, there is no greater joy than to be a part of grandchildren's lives as they grow and develop from infancy to adulthood. I remember your photo with Lucy.
Thanks for sharing jewels in your crown.

R/E: David Bantz' photo -- I was the photographer and remember their trip to visit Boston.  The other fellow in the photo is David's friend.

Judy Dorfman Sidell, Susan Mann and me. We had fun viewing the "Deli' exhibit at the Illinois Holocaust Museum in Skokie. Then, of course, we went to Once Upon a Bagel in Hubbard Woods for lunch.

Here's a new book about the history of Lincolnwood you may have some interest in.  Haven't read it, so take with a grain of salt.  Click on the photo to be taken to a web page with more info and to purchase the book.  We'd be interested in your comments here if you do get it.

Why not tell him Cubs have signed Craig Counsell as manager?
The contract Counsell agreed to shows Cubs' commitment to spending to win.
Cubs and Craig Counsell alike want a better chance to compete for championships.
Right now, lotsa productive players are on the table. (Cubs' commitment to competing at the highest level starts with $40 million over five years for Craig Counsell as Cubs manager.)

Count me IN for September reunion. I had so much fun in 2019. I TRIED to attend a mini reunion luncheon of band members last July but got caught up in the horrible air travel canellations and delays we were having last summer. It took me two full days camped out at Portland Airport before I vould get a flight to Chicago! But thanks to the technical acumen of our Scott Mermel, I was able to attend the luncheon via ZOOM. Looking forward to the real thing in September. See y'all...

After my failed attempt at the reunion luncheon I departed for 5 days in southern Wisconsin to make an architectural pilgrimage of sorts to tour the home and many works of Franl Lloyd Wright (and others). Being a born architecture nerd I was amazed that I had never checked all that out before when I was in college (in Appleton no less). Sometimes we just take for granted all that is around us. I was also taken by how prosperous and "hip" the charming small towns in Southern Wisconsin seemed. My guess is that remote workers might be changing the demographics there, just as has happened in rural Oregon, and elsewhere. Any Wisconsinites want to comment?

I was sad to have read in today's Chicago Tribune of the passing of our classmate Jacqui Brandt. Jacqui became a model and moved to Paris, France where she married and raised her family.
I spoke with Jacqui at one of our mini reunions. She was a delight to talk with and to  learn about her adventuresome life.

September 7th is circled on my calendar (yes...I still prefer the traditional paper kind) and very excited to see classmates again. The bonus is to learn that Hackney's is still a "thing."  Hopefully it has changed the grease in the onion fryer by now.

The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) is the only professional association devoted exclusively to the needs of French teachers at all levels. Their mission is to advance the study of the French language and French-speaking literatures and cultures both in schools and in the general public. AATF provides professional development, resources, and materials as support to promote and defend French programs and all things French in American schools, communities, and AATF chapters across the U.S.
Every November AATF members and interested Francophones and Francophiles are encouraged to take French out of the classroom to show what students know and can do with French.
AATF members have opportunities to promote French, to recognize student achievement, and to create excitement around the study of French.
Each year, the AATF holds a convention organized around a theme. The conventions periodically take place in a French-speaking location and are celebrations of all things French and Francophone and allow members to present their own work and to attend sessions and workshops devoted to all aspects of culture, literature, pedagogy, cinema, and linguistics.
The AATF collaborates with a variety of agencies and companies to offer its members scholarships for summer professional development programs in French-speaking countries. In recent years, winners have gone to France, Belgium, Quebec, and Martinique.

Serendipity to learn on this November day while thinking about Jacqui that the present AATF President, Eileen Walvoord, is a former French teacher in Niles Township High School District 219.

Scott, thank you for the preliminary info about the 60th reunion. Because of a conflict of schedule, I was not able to attend the 50th, but I have marked my calendar for a return to the Chicago area next September for the planned reunion.

Time out! (a respite for peace on earth)

I sobbed as the congregation at Rosalynn Carter's tribute service sang "Let there be peace on earth And let it begin with me... "

And then again listening to "Aaron's Blessing"
"The Lord bless you and keep you;
 The Lord make his face to shine upon you
 And be gracious to you;
 The Lord lift up his countenance upon you
 And give you peace."
