What is bias?

Sean Hannity in 2008:

“Obama’s willingness to meet with North Korea is one of the most disturbing displays of Obama’s lack of foreign experience.”

Sean Hannity in 2018:

Trump’s willingness to meet with North Korea is a huge foreign policy win for President Trump.”

  Americans are aspirational --

"KEEP AMERICA GREAT"    is  NOT  an aspirational theme.

Who is "petrified of the NRA"?  Or was he bought by the NRA?

Trump is backing down and into the arms of the NRA on gun reform.

Did you hear him campaign to the Pennsylvania Polka?

Happy Birthday, Carolyn Alport Spier.

Though March 13th this year falls on a Tuesday,

our discourteous, cowardly chaos president blindsides everyone...

In tweeted "thanks" Sec'y of State Tillerson was unceremoniously fired,

and Trump promises more reshuffling to surround himself with loyalists.

Moving on with his tough talking disruptive voice

and a politics of bullying and mockery,

Trump wings his way to California to inspect prototypes of his wall.

O Happy Day!

Trump’s confidence, ignoring the Constitution and abusing power grows--

he continues to bash the first amendment and lauds despots...

suggesting he should be president for life.

Lucky you-- Trump’s on his way to California on your birthday...

...can’t help wonder what you would say

and what your birthday wish might be

were you to meet the man on this extraordinary day...

Happy Birthday, Carolyn.

It's always good to hear from you.

Today, on the one-month anniversary of the Parkland school massacre, hundreds of thousands of students across the nation walked out of their classrooms to protest Congress’ failure to act on gun safety legislation. The National School Walkout began at 10 AM in each time zone-- the walkout moved across the country like a wave-- the protesters observed 17 minutes of silence - one minute for each life lost on February 14th at Marjory Stone Douglas HS.

In addition to the lives lost, there also are MSD students who sustained serious and life threatening injuries.  Anthony Borges (15), continues to fight for his life.  He was shot five times when he used his body to block a classroom door-- Anthony is lauded for protecting the lives of fellow classmates.

In a landmark decision the Supreme Court ruled in Tinker v. DesMoines that students don’t “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate."  Schools cannot punish students just because the district doesn’t like the brand of politics that supports the protest.

To maximize a teaching moment on civics and citizenship, some school districts had students write a letter or essay on topics like gun reform or civil disobedience as a pass to participate.

The concerns of those participating in the walkout focus on: Banning assault weapons; Requiring universal background checks before gun sales; and Passing a gun violence restraining order.

Some students who disagree with the #Enough and #March for Our Lives protests, chose not to walk out(side) today, but instead to the cafeteria where, in some schools, students gathered to voice their opinions.

Jeffrey Lerner passed away last week. He was a criminal lawyer and lived in Glenview Illinois.  Jeff was friends with Bob White,  Bob Kitsos, Our beloved Dave Hill, and Glenn Masters at west. Jeff lived a happy successful life.

I don’t post unless it’s good news or bad news.

I still love all of you

Former CIA chief John Brennan did not mince his words when taking aim at President Donald Trump on Saturday morning. In a blistering tweet, Brennan blasted Trump for celebrating the dismissal of former FBI deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

Trump would take his “rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history” once “the full extent” of his “venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known,” Brennan wrote. “You may scapegoat Andy McCabe,” he added. “But you will not destroy America… America will triumph over you.”

Sad to hear about Jeff Lerner-  I remember when he worked as a U.S. Marshall in the Federal Courthouse in Chicago while going to law school. He and his partners in high school- Kitsos, White, Masten were a real group of great guys

Our country is in the midst of a cold civil war.

Trump notoriously said: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.”

What could Trump do that would shake his base?

Friday, March 16th, Retired four-star Army General Barry McCaffrey tweeted:

“Reluctantly I have concluded that President Trump is a serious threat to US national security.  He is refusing to protect vital US interests from active Russian attacks.  It is apparent that he is for some unknown reason under the sway of Mr. Putin.”

When in the past would the concern of such an esteemed American be ignored?

Barry McCaffrey received three Purple Heart medals for injuries sustained during his service in Vietnam, two Silver Stars for valor, and two Distinguished Service Crosses.

President Trump targets Special Counsel Robert Mueller by name to discredit him by tweet--

Congressional Republicans sit back...  (or retire-- 38 Congressional Republicans are not seeking re election...

very slowly and (timidly) a few Senate Republicans are publicly supporting Robert Mueller,

however, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has not issued even a pro forma statement saying he supports the special counsel’s independence and thinks the investigation should be allowed to continue.

Former US Representative Charles Djou (Hawaii) announced in an open letter he is resigning from the Republican Party--

Why? because of their embrace of Donald Trump.

After much consideration, he said he is abandoning his party because he is unwilling to abandon his principles... he can no longer stand with a Republican Party that is led by a man he firmly believes is taking the party of Lincoln in a direction he fundamentally disagrees with, and a party that is unwilling to stand up to him. ...

Djou said, “Civility is an inner trait of true character ... Trump’s stream-of-consciousness tweets ... provide real harm to the stability of our democracy.” And he quoted President George W. Bush’s recent lament, “Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.  The only way to pass along civic values is to first live up to them.”

Djou expressed his disappointment in the failure of the GOP to clearly and consistently condemn Trump-- said too many Republicans either applaud Trump or greet his antics with silent acceptance which leads to an implicit ratification by the GOP of Trump’s undisciplined, uninformed, and unfocused leadership as a core part of the Republican Party.

Trump called and congratulated Vladimir Putin on his "electoral victory" winning a fourth six-year term as Russia’s leader.  John McCain tweeted his response to Trump's congratulatory call :

“An American president does not lead the Free World by congratulating dictators on winning sham elections.  And by doing so with Vladimir Putin, President Trump insulted every Russian citizen who was denied the right to vote in a free and fair election.”

Enough is enough with the mulligan for Trump.

Traitor is a strong a word for Trump. He may be a traitor, leveraged by the Russians, but we don't know that just yet. What we do know, as stated by his Secretary of State, is that he is "a fucking moron."

Day after tomorrow

         on Saturday, March 24th,

hundreds of thousands of people are expected to participate in MARCH FOR OUR LIVES to call on legislators to address and enact common sense gun safety laws.

MARCH FOR OUR LIVES was organized by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Florida.

The main March for Our Lives will take place in D.C.... and there are “sibling” marches planned in cities and towns across the country and around the world.

Since the massacre in Parkland, students have been making their voices heard-- they will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action for common sense gun safety--

The change we need is coming and we see it happening right in front of us-- inspired by and led by the kids who are our hope for the future.

School safety is not a political issue.  No special interest group, no political agenda is more critical than timely passage of gun reform.

The mission and focus of MARCH FOR OUR LIVES is comprehensive and effective gun safety legislation.

                          "March for Our Lives"

Saturday, March 24th in DC and other cities

Peakesville, Ohio, you may remember, if you watched episode 73 (“It’s a Good Life”) of the Twilight Zone, was the fictional home of Anthony Fremont, a six-year old with god-like powers.  He could make it snow, make his own television shows, create three-headed gophers, and effortlessly kill anyone foolish enough to say something negative or even think badly of him. Those who crossed the child were swept away, wished by Anthony into the cornfield. Anthony was a six-year-old monster who did not understand the gravity of his wrong-doing, and who demanded absolute agreement with his actions and unremitting loyalty.

The only way to stay alive in Anthony’s presence was to humor him. “It’s real good what you done, Anthony.  That’s real fine. We all love you Anthony.”

Donald Trump is fashioning a New America, and it is strangely similar to Anthony Fremont’s Peakesville, Ohio.

The most powerful man in the world can give billionaires huge tax cuts, threaten our long-standing friends, cozy up to thugs and tyrants, and roil the stock market with Fox-TV-inspired decisions. He can also make television shows.  He demands an all-encompassing loyalty, and if you think bad thoughts about this man you are banished to the cornfield. Just ask Rex Tillerson or James Comey. Or the great bulk of the American press.

Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and the other GOP leaders now daily humor the child-like monster in the White House.

“It’s good what you done Mr. President. Those tariffs are a fine idea.  It’s good that you wished Secretary Tillerson and General McMaster into the cornfield. They thought bad things about you. We all love you, Mr. President. It’s swell what you are doing.”

Time to chime in:  It’s good that you are making America great again Mr. President! We all love you!
