To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 07:46 AM Bravo! The Chief Justice prevented the name of the whistleblower from becoming part of the record. Shame on John Bolton. It's time for him to go to a microphone and tell us what he knows. What has possessed Alan Dershowitz? The 'Dersh' is now trying to clarify what we all heard him say and he says we misunderstood. Whatever the 'Dersh virus' is, the Republican Senators have caught it - a 'load of nonsense' virus: recognized when those afflicted call corruption 'policy'. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 08:14 AM How do we respect a government for which facts and a search for truth no longer matter? The United States Senate is normalizing lawlessness. Trump's scheme has been exposed. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 08:45 AM When the most powerful leader in the world and one of the stupidest leaders in the world are the same man, bad things are guaranteed to happen. And when that man commits stupid and reprehensible acts and is given a free pass, he will be emboldened, and more such acts will follow. That is the sad tale of what is now transpiring in the United States Senate, where Republican senators scramble like monkeys, covering their faces, seeing and hearing no evil. Hollywood, take note! There, free for the taking, is a screenplay—Dumb and Dumber 4—starring Donald J. Trump and Rudy Giuliani. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 11:22 AM Hi to anybody who might be reading this. I have been grateful (thank you Reunion Committee) for this place to state "political views" without disrupting the intent of the message forum. It has felt mighty fine to get some things off my chest, and the "opposition" hasn't missed a beat in presenting their feelings as well. As for me, I have lived most of my life in a somewhat apolitical stance. I have listened to candidates and voted my conscience, accepting the outcome of the respective democratic elections. I lived through eight years of the Obama administration and, while not a fan, never questioned his right to be our President and hoped he would succeed as our President. To do otherwise would be a disservice to our country. What we are going through now isn't about politics, but about the future of our Republic for which I stand. The President has been persecuted throughout his tenure in office, a persecution which started before he even took the solemn oath of office. During that time, Congress has exhausted all of its efforts to unseat a duly elected President We've now reached the point that there is an impeachment trial before the Senate. Whatever side of the aisle we find ourselves, I know we recognize the gravity of the situation; thus passions are strong. I am a praying person and, at this juncture, all I can do is pray for our Senators that they will do the right thing according to all the evidence presented before them. If they vote to impeach I will be personally devastated and appalled, but must abide by that decision. If they vote to acquit, I don't believe for a minute that radical left (which is overtaking what was once a wonderful party) will accept that and will find more ways to attack. So I ask myself, who is really dividing our country? I know my answer.
I have one request...I'd appreciate it if anybody could provide a video or transcript attesting to the claim that Alan Dershowitz stated "There's nothing Trump can do that's not OK, he's the President of the United States. Abuse of presidential power is constitutional." Attribution Janis Kliphardt Emery. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 04:35 PM And if anyone is kind enough to be trying to find evidence of the Dershowitz statements I asked about (which I haven't been able to find), seeing as how I'm not on Twitter maybe you could post the tweet where he said he didn't say what we heard him say. I have a hard time believing these statements were made by Dershowitz, but I'm certainly open to be proven wrong.

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 04:41 PM Alan Derschowitz for the Defense: 'L'ETAT, C'EST TRUMP' "At the Senate impeachment trial yesterday, Alan Derschowitz said that the president can do just about anything he wants." "So long as Trump believes himself to be acting in the national interest, Alan Derschowitz argued, he can do whatever he wants." -- Susan B. Glasser, The NEW YORKER, January 29,2020 "Donald Trump has the power to do just about anything he wants to do, and there's nothing the U.S. Senate can or should do about it." --Alan Derschowitz "For more than a week, House managers prosecuting the impeachment case against Trump have argued that the Senate's failure to convict him would make Trump an unaccountable leader; in effect, a dictator or a king. When Derschowitz spoke, it was as if he completely agreed with them. Two days earlier, Derschowitz had told senators that Presidential "abuse of power" should not be considered an impeachable offense under the Constitution. On Wednesday, he took that further---much further. "If a President does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment, he argued. Derschowitz was offering Trump---and all future Presidents---a free pass. His argument seemed unbelievable: as long as the President thinks his reelection will benefit the country, he can do anything in pursuit of it without fear of impeachment. "Trump has already said that he considers himself empowered by Article II of the Constitution "to do whatever I want... Derschowitz, in effect, endorsed Trump's power grab on the floor of the Senate. So long as Trump believes himself to be acting in the national interest, he can do whatever he wants. "If the past three years have taught us anything, it is that Trump is a President who is comfortable conflating his own interest with the national interest. 'L'etat, c'est Trump'." I'll see if I can find the tweet. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 09:02 PM Well, there you have it...How can I look for more evidence than quotes by Susan Glasser of the New Yorker. As far as his tweet, it was quoted here so it shouldn't be hard to find again. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Friday, January 31, 2020 11:29 AM "When you're president, they let you do it." (sound familiar?) "When you're a star, they let you do it." This is an ominous day for the U.S. Senate. Americans want witnesses and documents. ALERT! There's Breaking News: ALERT! Attorney Cipollone is in a hornet's nest. Why is John Bolton trickling out the story, rather than stepping up and telling us what he knows? |
