To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Tuesday, January 21, 2020 08:50 PM Republican votes to table the Democratic amendments for witnesses and documents are votes to deny a fair trial. Multiple times, Adam Schiff has had to correct the record as presented by the White House Defense Counsel. They should have been sworn in under penalty of perjury. Mitch McConnell wants to abbreviate the time for Democratic House members to bring amendments to the floor because he says none of the amendments are going to be passed by the Republican Senators anyway. Question: Does the oath the Senators took mean anything to Republicans? Are they paying attention to the debate or are they dismissing the procedure as a foregone conclusion? |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Wednesday, January 22, 2020 07:18 PM If Republican Senators acquit Trump without voting to call witnesses and see documents, they should all lose their next election for failing to do impartial justice. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Wednesday, January 22, 2020 09:03 PM The truth is coming out. How soon do Senators want the whole truth revealed about how far this corruption goes? People risked their careers for us to be here today. Do Senators have the courage to vote to hear witnesses and see documents? |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 09:03 AM "Everyone was in the loop." Trump was directing the operation. Is this a search for truth? How soon do we want to know the truth? Let's bring in the witnesses and documents. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 10:27 AM How will White House Counsel defend Trump? What happens if we don't hold Trump accountable? He thinks he's above the law. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 02:50 PM The beauty of the Constitution is it's simplicity - it's a framework rather than a complicated structure - we're not constrained by archaic rules and regulations with tangled clauses. To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 05:48 PM Let me try to understand what you're trying to say here...As I understand it, you're saying that the Constitution's not meant to be followed as written. That it's a bunch of archaic rules and regulations that don't apply to us today and when the founders wrote it they understood it would be changed to apply to the times. You come up with a lot of crazy stuff, Janis, but this statement if downright scary. Unfortunately, many of our democrat leaders are treating it with the same lack of respect. You said earlier that you love America, but it sounds to me like you want to change it to your liking. Lest you try to edit your post... "The beauty of the Constitution is it's simplicity - it's a framework rather than a complicated structure - we're not constrained by archaic rules and regulations with tangled clauses. To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 06:32 PM Carol, please, re read what I wrote: the Constitution can be followed as written because it allows for change that comes naturally with time and invention. The Founders did not include what today would have been archaic rules and regulations because we live with invention and technology the Founders could not have envisioned. The Constitution is a framework that is relevant today even with all the changes that have come the world around with new modes of transportation, communication, public education, computers and IT, to name just a few. (There weren't political parties either.) I think the Constitution is a brilliant document. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 06:42 PM Nice try, Janis. I think you need to re-read your own words. "We're not constrained..." leaves nothing to the imagination. You can back pedal all you want, but you can't change what you said. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 06:53 PM I have no idea what you're talking about. The Constitution gives us principles of governance, not rules and regulations for daily life. Rules and regulations are to be developed in conformance with Constitutional principles. That's why we have a Supreme Court. |

RE: To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 07:56 PM Carol, you might be reminded that it is Trump who has thrown our government into a fruit basket upset to intentionally undermine the U.S. Constitution and divide us as a nation. He blasts our former presidents, shows no respect to our leaders and heroes, and betrays our allies. I can't think of a president who has shown so little respect for his office and his most important responsibility which is to unify us as a people. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Thursday, January 23, 2020 11:41 PM Janis, I think you're in good company with several of your Congressional heroes (Schiff, Nadler, Pelosi)...The more y'all talk, the more you hurt your "cause." After they ramrodded impeachment in the House with no facts, now y'all want to say that if republicans don't do what was their job, that they're guilty of a cover-up. Many republicans were insulted and Chief Justice Roberts admonished that behavior. Americans are sick of this three+ year impeachment circus, with promises of more to come.. And you want to say Trump is intentionally undermining the U.S. Constitution and dividing us as a nation? LOL! (See, you make me laugh a lot. Right does, indeed, matter. Speaking of which, did you hear that today the DOJ admitted to the lack of validity of two of the four (so far) of the surveillance applications? *Based upon his knowledge and approval of these, Schiff s/b impeached.) Do you realize the serious implications of this and how rich Carter Page is going to be? I'm glad he's been vindicated and will receive just reward; sadly the American people will be footing that bill just as we've paid to feed the dems' obsession with impeachment. I believe more grave injustices will be brought to light when the Durham report comes out. Real crimes like you're trying to pin on Trump. This isn't an issue of Democrats vs Republicans...It's right vs. wrong. |

To impeach or not to impeach... Posted Friday, January 24, 2020 08:10 AM Carol, I hear pain in your rage. Carter Page has borne the brunt of failures in the system. There are checks and balances in our system. That is what is at stake with the impeachment trial. |
