Is it possible Nikki Haley's moxie could pierce Trump's hold on voters who have given him a pass on the temperament and biography we know to be his?

The same presidential candidate who is hoping the economy crashes before the General Election is trying to sabotage a rare moment of momentum for a bipartisan border security deal in Congress.

...and to expect Republicans to fold for his political gain.
Are Republicans concerned about chaos on the southern border?

Do Republicans want to secure the border?
There is bipartisan support for the most substantial border security bill in decades.

Oklahoma's GOP State Committee resolved to condemn and censure James Lankford, their senior U.S. Senator, for his work on a bipartisan southern border security deal and to cease all support for him until he ceases these actions.

Congressional members have a decision to make:
accept chaos at the border - or - support a comprehensive bill that addresses the crisis;
"save the problem" for Trump - or - step up and do the work they're elected to do.

Singing "We shall overcome someday..."
we recognize someday isn't here yet.

"Actually, we who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. We bring it out in the open where it can be seen and dealt with."  -- Martin Luther King Jr

The tension continues; the struggle continues.
MLK knew it was going to take time to overcome. He was adept at shining light on the tension, defining it, and challenging us to deal with it.
There's still work all of us must do.

February is Black History Month.
Why not indulge in Black culture - listening to music, reading stories, watching movies - even if it makes us uncomfortable?

Bravo to Wisconsin's Republican Representative Mike Gallagher! He was one of three Republicans (also Ken Buck of Colorado and Tom McClintock of California) who voted against impeaching DHS Secretary Mayorkas.

The failed impeachment came as Senate Republicans reject the bipartisan bill to secure the border.

What the country needs now is for our legal system to pick up the pace and get these Trump cases to trial so there are verdicts before the General Election. Voters need the information.

      Take heed to Norma Anderson.

She's an inspiration to Coloradans and Americans.

Norma Anderson, a lifelong Republican, served as the first-ever woman majority leader in both chambers of the Colorado legislature.
While serving in the Colorado statehouse, she helped enact legislation to improve child literacy and to lower the cost of in-state colleges and to establish a home nursing program with funds from a landmark lawsuit against the large tobacco companies.
She says she "was born four months before FDR was elected: (she's) lived through a lot of presidents, some (she) liked, some (she) didn't. But not one of them caused an insurrection, until Donald Trump."
She acknowledged that battling Trump - especially in court - comes with acclaim in some circles and vitriol in others.

Look back to February 7th (first post) for kudos to Wisconsin's Republican Representative Mike Gallagher:
He is taking so much flack from MAGA for his "nay" vote to impeach DHS Secretary, he has decided not to seek re eletion to the U.S. House.

Also look back to January 29th (first post): Oklahoma's Republican Senator James Lankford too is being harassed by MAGA for his work on a bipartisan southern border security deal.

Merrick Garland may have served too long as a judge to be an effective attorney general. He has bent over backward to be fair-minded and by not taking the responsibility of his office, has created a dangerous political climate in our country.

The former president should have been charged with insurrection years ago. The Department of Justice should have apprehended members of Congress who were connected with the insurrection.

The DOJ has dragged its feet so long, we hear the former president as presidential candidate promising pardons to those he calls hostages who were prosecuted for storming the Capitol and yelling death threats to Vice President Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Americans are left arguing whether the violence of January 6 constituted an insurrection.

It's scary to think the likely candidate of either political party is the most qualified person to be president of the U.S.
What does that mean for 2028?
I'm opposed to 3rd party presidential candidates, most especially in this election.
I'm more than ready for Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro or Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer to serve as U.S. President but it seems not to be their time.
In the meantime I'll vote for the old guy.

Nikki's standing tall in Trump's direct line of fire.
She's firing back, but stands by her pledge to vote for the Republican candidate for president.
