Republicans have been hoping / encouraging New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu to challenge Senator Maggie Hassan in her run for re election to the U.S. Senate. Gov Sununu has decided to instead run for re election for Governor of New Hampshire.

Chris Sununu gave serious consideration to running for the U.S. Senate... Why did he decide against national office (at this time)?

He was dissuaded by the Republican Party's plan for the next two years: "They were all, for the most part, content with the speed at which they weren't doing anything. It was very clear that we just have to hold the line for two years. OK, so I'm just going to be a roadblock for two years. That's not what I do," Chris Sununu said, noting Republicans are trying to wait until they hope to win the presidency in 2024. "It bothered me that they were OK with that."

There is nothing new about gerrymandering, but the partisan wall Congress is building by gerrymandering seems insurmountable. Can it really be fulfilling to debate partisan politics without results? States create districts where politicians get elected by appealing to what divdes us. Our only hope is if as citizens we exert our power as voters to elect leaders who model enough respect and humility to reach across the aisle and listen, listen to find common ground and compromise that might demonstrate some unity in our nation.

Our politics are killing us.

The political wall we have erected is a fortress.        
Those endowed with the intelligence and knowledge to guide us through perilous circumstance such as a pandemic are not trusted or believed.      
We are handcuffing educators whose job it is to teach us to think to keep us from having to consider ideas or facts that make us uncomfortable.

Those we elect to lead us are locked in a logjam we have created.

Guide posts erected to give us direction are being dismantled; we are busy burning the maps left us by our forebears.

The wall was facilitated by republican whores, who tolerate "anything" for the sake of reelection, power, and wealth.  Our country is in the grip of minority control led by McConnell who has a death grip on the senate.
