Walter Kummerow Jr.    SPIKE

On Saturday April 21 2007 our beloved Spike passed away. He was happily married to Ann and had three children Chris, Chad, and Andrew (Megan).  He was a loving grandfather to Charlie.  He left behind many people who loved him.  Spike touched everyone in some way with his million dollar smile.

In 1960 I saw Spike for the first time.  I was almost 15 and I didn't realize that Spike would become the hottest guy in the class of 1964.  I just thought this guy is fun.  I liked him and though, what adventures could we have together... and we did.  Note:He was never my boyfriend.  We liked each other too much to date.  Friends Forever we would say.

Spike played football for 4 years, wrestled varsity for 2, and did detention with me on occasion. I can't remember, which one of the pretty girls Spike dated......but Im sure there was a long line.  Tall, blonde, handsome, and what a body.  He had it all with a great personality to match.  The best part of Spike was his smile.  Our Spike had many friends.  Everyone liked Spike and he liked everyone.  He was one happy guy and very popular.

I lost track of Spike after high school.  I was in love but not with Spike. Im not sure what kind of trouble he found with out me until our 10 th reunion.  I saw Spike at every reunion Niles West had.  We had a pact to stand next to each other in every reunion photo.  If you notice Spike and I were usually in more then one photo, one next to each other and the other next to others.

The one thing I noticed about Spike was that he had a drink or two before each reunion and several at the reunion.  He liked to dance and always had a great time.  He was still the best looking guy at the reunion, fat or thin, drunk or sober, smiling and happy, or wearing a shinny green sport jacket.

Spike was married to Ann and  were married over 40 years.   They were happily married, and he was forever loyal and loving to Ann. They had a good marriage and raised a very happy children.  I'm not sure how Spike died but his obituary asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.  You can draw your own conclusions.

Spike, you were my person at the reunion.  You were the person I wanted to see.  You were the person I wanted to hug. You were the person, who I regretted, not dating.  You were my friend and I will miss you.  I am so sorry that I didn't  get the opportunity to let you buy me one last drink or give me a big squeeze.  I bet your the best looking guy in heaven.  I love you and will miss you.     Sharry

And yes, Spike could always tell Donna and I apart.  That's why I liked him.

He wasnt just a pretty face. I have a drawing he did forr me in my apt. I adore it and often wondered if he finally worked as an artist.
I thought he showed great promise and early talent. Ill miss him at our reunion.
