To impeach or not to impeach...
Posted Sunday, December 15, 2019 06:35 PM

Senate Minority Leader Schumer is calling for witnesses to testify in the Senate impeachment trial: John Bolton; Mick Mulvaney and his senior adviser, Robert Blair; and Michael Duffey, OMB Assoc. Director for National Security Programs.
Truth must prevail.  Truth is essential for accountability.  Let U.S. Senators see the facts and hear these witnesses to discover the truth.

Freshman Democrats are pushing for Justin Amash to serve as an impeachment manager in the Senate trial which would show some sense of bipartisan support.

Carly Fiorina supports impeaching Trump.
Fox polling shows public support for impeaching Trump.
Citizens are sovereign.

The president abused his power and obstructed congress.

Trump should be asked every day: "Why won't you let the witnesses speak?"

Nixon and Clinton both showed remorse for their actions and respect for the Constitution.

We're in an era when we're being asked not to see what is self-evident.

Truth is seen as disloyalty to Trump.

Regardless of Party, members of Congress have a duty to protect and defend the Constitution.

Justin Amash spoke as an American in support of voting for both Articles of Impeachment against Donald Trump.

Nancy Pelosi resisted impeachment.  Impeachment is a wrenching process.
Donald Trump forced impeachment with a pattern of obvious abuse of presidential power.
Each member of Congress must look into his/her own soul and do their sacred duty.

"Wherever law ends, tyranny begins." -- John Locke
The very idea of America is at risk.

House impeachment non debate ended -

not one Republican defended Trump's character or his conduct.

The voting began:

Trump impeached for Abuse of Power.  (YEA    230;     NAY   197)

Trump impeached for Obstruction of Congress.  (YEA    229;      NAY   198)

Tulsi Gabbard voted 'Present' on both Articles of Impeachment.
There were 3 'No Votes' on both Articles of Impeachment: 1 Democrat and 2 Republicans

The impeachment process has only just begun. Congress needs our support as the process continues.  Mitch McConnell has already said he will not be an impartial juror.  He seems unaware of the oath he will take as a juror.

The whole Republican argument is that Trump, the dude who had to pay $2 million for ripping off charities, really hates corruption.

Judge Andrew Napolitano, legal analyst for FOX News says there's "undisputed evidence that President Trump abused the power of his office in his dealings with Ukraine," asserting that "the remedy of impeachment is acutely needed because of it."

Time to take off the rose-colored glasses.  There's no vindication when greed and self-dealing are what you're about.

Mitch Mc Connell, who says he will not be an impartial juror, will address the Senate in the morning, tomorrow, Thursday.

Editorial today in evangelical newspaper "Christianity Today":

But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.

Trump’s evangelical supporters have pointed to his Supreme Court nominees, his defense of religious liberty, and his stewardship of the economy, among other things, as achievements that justify their support of the president. We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president’s moral deficiencies for all to see. This damages the institution of the presidency, damages the reputation of our country, and damages both the spirit and the future of our people. None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character.

Yes, "Christianity Today" (founded by Billy Graham) came out today in support of Trump's impeachment and removal from office.
Trump has done great damage to our country and to the Christian Church.

Lest anyone should be inadvertently misled (which I hope wasn't your intent)...Billy Graham had not been involved with Christianity Today for a long time and, in response, Franklin Graham has clarified that his father was a strong supporter of President Trump.  So I guess he didn't agree with you that he's done great damage to our country and the Christian Church.

Carol, it might amaze you to know I have extended family who knew Billy Graham and his future wife Ruth Bell as students at Wheaton College.  It also might amaze you to know I have extended family who remain in communication with Billy's and Ruth's daughters (Franklin's sisters).  Billy lived to almost 100 and due to ill health was out of public life for more than 25 years before his death.  It's no wonder it's been a long time since Billy Graham has been involved with "Christianity Today".  One of Billy' Graham's greatest regrets is that he was not the father he would have wanted for his children.  Franklin's sisters have regret for the voice Franklin is given because he is Billy Graham's son.
Let me repeat: Donald Trump has done great damage to our country and to the Christian Church.

You know what, Janis?  You can repeat it all you want, but that doesn't make it true.  It just makes it your adamant opinion.

Check it out, Carol.  Read the editorial.  Read it again and ponder what the editorial says.  Talk with Christian leaders about Trump and his relationship with Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell, Jr., and Robert Jeffress.  I am not a lone voice in the wilderness.  It is because we are Christians and Americans that we are and have been concerned for a long time about what's happening.

I'm certainly  not saying you're alone in your opinion, Janis.  Nor do I say you're not entitled to it.  As a Christian and American, I too have many strong opinions as to what's happening to our country and the persecution of the Church.  And I, too, know of many who share mine.  Can't you ever just agree to dissagree?  Can't you ever respect those who think differently than you?  Do you honestly think that you are all knowing?

How is the Christian Church being persecuted in America?

Carol, facts are facts, and opinions are opinions.

I asked you how Christians are being persecuted in America - facts, please.

I don't know of persecution of Christianity in America.  We still have freedom of religion.  I wasn't referring to America as far a concerns of Christian persecution, though I can see how my sentence would lend to that.

"Franklin Graham needs to make amends for not speaking out when the President he has proudly hoisted upon his shoulders as good and Godly, called "shithole countries" the very places Franklin sends Christmas shoeboxes with dollar store trinkets and promises of God's love.  It is up to the rest of us to condemn perverting religion and leveraging God in order to marginalize already marginalized people, lest we all be known as hypocritical frauds."  -- John Pavlovitz

Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski said she is "disturbed" by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's plans for "total coordination" with President Trump and his White House staff on an impending impeachment trial.

Said Senator Murkowski, "It if means that I am viewed as one who looks openly and critically at every issue in front of me, rather than acting as a rubber stamp for my party or my president, I'm totally good with that."

John Bolton says if subpoenaed he is willing to testify in a Senate impeachment trial.

The Question is: Will the Senators vote to allow witnesses.

John Bolton says if subpoenaed he will defy a White House order not to testify.

Marco Rubio, who is an attorney, is not interested in having John Bolton testify during a Senate trial.
If the Senate wants all relevant facts, Senators will vote to subpoena John Bolton.

The Question is: Is the Senate searching for truth or NOT?

John Bolton was in the room when decisions were made; he is a firsthand witness.

Mitch McConnell says he has the support of 51 Republican Senators to approve rules that postpone consideration of witnesses until midtrial.

Susan Collins has told reporters she agrees with waiting until later in the trial to consider witnesses, but behind the scenes she's working to build support for calling witnesses at the impeachment trial.

Chuck Schumer says he'll call up votes to summon witnesses at the beginning of the trial and again later on.

Today Nancy Pelosi announced she's preparing to send two articles of impeachment to the Senate, charging Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The Impeachment Trial could start as soon as next week.

(The presidential debate scheduled for next Tuesday in Des Moines will be postponed if necessary.)

Impeachment is no longer a question of conviction or acquittal...

It's a question of a fair trial or a cover-up.

How many Republicans in the Senate will vote for a fair trial?
