We should all pray for Donald Trump.

Amen, Janis...He needs our prayers (and he's always had mine; as did Obama).  It's amazing when we pray for someone how God can soften our hearts as well.

What's saddest is that Trump doesn't want prayer support, or constructive support in the Oval Office.
Prayer does soften our hearts, sadly he rejects it.
He doesn't understand relationships and teamwork.
He lacks humility, believes he alone can do it, which is antithetical to what makes America strong.

A tribute to Mitt Romney and his family in the face of the unimaginable retribution he and they will suffer.
Mitt Romney is a man of faith.

Mike Lee sat there laughing in the midst while Trump bashed fellow Mormon and Utah Senator.
Is this what is meant by a "head on a pike"?

Silly me...Here I thought you were serious about praying for Trump. ;)   Too bad--You could benefit from it.

I am serious about praying for Trump.
Like you and Nancy Pelosi, I pray for our presidents.
I pray for Mitt Romney too.

Then I guess it's safe to say that if those who pray don't want to relinquish their hate He obliges.

"Trump's impeachment acquittal shows how democracy could really die."

"The Senate's sham trial revealed a philosophical flaw in American liberal democracy."

"Donald Trump's impeachment acquittal is a warning sign that something has gone deeply wrong in our political system . It shows a kind of subtle corruption of the law that has, in other countries, led to the decline and fall of their democratic systems in their entirety.

"Senate Republicans didn't violate the Constitution's rules for holding an impeachment trial. They adhered fairly reasonably to the letter of the law and can credibly claim they did all that was legally required of them. But this was a sham trial, one whose outcome was never seriously in doubt. By following the formal rules, Senate Republicans gave this fiction a veneer of formal legitimacy. Mitch McConnell weaponized the letter of the law against its spirit, and all but Mitt Romney fell into line.

"This kind of corrupt legalism is a common practice among ruling parties in democracies that have fallen into autocracy... We should not fear a coup or seizure of authoritarian emergency powers, but a slow hollowing-out of our legal system to the point where the people no longer have meaningful control over their leaders.  For Republicans impeachment was a parody -- a performance that undermines the balance of power -- claiming to follow their constitutional obligations to hold the executive branch accountable.

"The Senate impeachment proceedings lacked at least two elements of a fair trial: full consideration of the evidence and open-minded jurors. The reason Republicans wouldn't hear John Bolton's testimony is because they had already decided to acquit Trump. Mitch McConnell was open about all this before the trial started. He put together a "trial" that would guarantee this outcome without flagrantly violating the rules of the Constitution, 'a kind of narrow legalism that empties out the law of its true meaning.'

"We must protect the 1st amendment: Beware the government that controls the airwaves and media companies. A patchwork of non-sensical regulations makes it nearly impossible for pro-democracy organizations to serve as a check on the government. Tax law and economic regulations are fundamentally political, enforcement that punishes government critics and enriches its cronies.

"Republicans will not vote to give Trump dictatorial powers; we will not wake up tomorrow, the day after, or the year after in a police state.  The risk, instead, is that the legal procedures necessary for a liberal democracy to work -- the fairness of elections, the separation of powers, the protections of minority rights -- become hollowed out from the inside, rendered meaningless despite remaining on the books.

"We will never stop claiming to be a democracy, but we might end up quietly losing so many different components of one that we ultimately lose the capacity for meaningful self-rule. Plank by plank, the American ship of state is being chipped away."

It's about loving our country more than a political party or a mortal man.

I listen to Jesus' words.

Have you read the Beatitudes?

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Both Alexander Vindman and his twin brother, and Gordon Sondland received payback from Trump today.

He fires people for telling the truth under oath.

Working at the Whitehouse is a privilege; not a right.  Stands to reason any President would choose to have those working for him to be in support of his policies.

More Americans voted for Mitt Romney than for Donald Trump.

Please, tell me why people who voted for Mitt Romney for president in 2012 are willing to trash him today.

The retribution Trump and Trump, Jr have already heaped on Mitt Romney is despicable.

History will be way kinder to Mitt Romney than to Donald Trump.

There are Republicans who wish they had the moral courage Romney showed;
there are Republicans who wanted it both ways: they condemned Trump's behavior, but they could not take the heat for doing the right thing;
Marco Rubio actually said Trump's behavior was impeachable, but he believed impeaching Trump would be too divisive for the country to bear.

Senators took an oath that meant nothing to them;
Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham among others said their minds were made up, they did not want to see evidence.

Was impeachment worth it?
What did it accomplish?

The Democrats had no choice but to impeach Trump.
He flagrantly crossed a line.
A check on his abuse of power was absolutely necessary;
it was imperative that the American people see the evidence of his corruption.
This is the United States of America.
The Constitution is the blueprint for our country.
Trump does not honor the Constitution,
he does not honor his oath to protect and defend the Constitution.
Right and wrong matter in the US.

Trump ploughs on, looking for henchman.
He is not looking for Americans who uphold the Constitution,
he expects personal and blind loyalty.

We are a nation of laws.
We the people are the jurors.
We must vote to protect and defend the Constitution.

Love your enemies. Nah.

"The tragedy is not that the person who is president lacks a single benevolent impulse,
the tragedy is how many Americans he represents,
that though they might inwardly twinge with discomfort at his most egregious offenses,
by and large they're good with it all."

"The white evangelical church has failed us all.
If not for them, he isn't elected.
If not for them, he isn't declared Christian.
If not for them, we're not living this disaster."

Donald Trump learned his lesson all right, he learned he can create a constitutional crisis, and Republicans will fall back. Barr has intervened in legal matters that interest Trump. Four prosecutors showed more moral courage today than all but Mitt Romney of the Republican Senate impeachment jurors.

Close to fourteen thousand New Hampshire Republicans stood with Mitt Romney today and voted for Bill Weld for president in the NH Republican primary.

We need legislation to codify the separation between the Department of Justice and the Executive Branch of our government.

Trump's rhetoric has impacted the way America's children are harassed at school.
Trump is role model-in-chief for America's bullies.
